At DivoCars, we believe that renting a car should be as exciting and hassle‑free as your next epic road trip. Sure, there are a few “need-to-know” details in our general rental terms, but don’t worry—we’ve broken them down into bite‑sized, fun‑to‑read pieces so you can focus on the adventure ahead. Here’s your friendly guide to what you need to know before you hit the road with DivoCars.

1. The Essentials: What You Need Before You Rent

Before you even think about taking our wheels for a spin, make sure you’ve got your must‑have documents and payment sorted. Here’s your checklist:

  • Personal ID, Driving License, & Credit Card:
Bring a valid ID, a driving license (with at least two years behind the wheel and you must be over 21 and a credit card unless agreed differently in written form. Example: Young Drivers
  • For Business Rentals:
If you’re renting as a legal entity, you’ll also need a pre‑invoice payment and an order form specifying “vehicle rental” along with your rental period. This order form covers any extra costs that might pop up.

2. Who’s Behind the Wheel?

Only those who are listed on the rental contract can drive. That means:

  • Age & Experience:
You must be over 21 unless agreed differently in written form and have been driving for at least two years.
  • Registered Drivers Only:
Everyone who’s planning to take the wheel must be named in the rental agreement.

3. The Rental Time Frame: 24 Hours and Counting!

  • Minimum Rental:
Our rentals start at a minimum of 1 day (24 hours).
  • Late Returns:
If you’re more than 60 minutes late returning the car, you might be charged for an extra day.
  • Extensions:
Need more time on the road? Let us know at least 24 hours before your current contract expires.

4. Pick‑Up, Return, and After‑Hours Adventures

  • Business Hours:
Our pick‑up and return times are Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 19:00.
  • After‑Hours Options:
Want to grab or drop off your ride outside these hours? It’s possible for an extra fee—just make sure you arrange it in advance. If you return the car off‑hours without prior agreement, you’re responsible for the car’s condition until our team is back.

5. Insurance, Liability, and the Fine Print

Your DivoCars ride comes with a suite of essential insurance covers:

  • Included Insurance:
Mandatory insurance, collision damage waiver (CDW), and theft insurance are part of the package.
  • Your Liability:
In the event of an incident, your personal liability ranges between €400 and €1000 (depending on the car group).
  • Accidents & Theft:
If something happens, you’ll need to report the incident to the police and provide a written statement. Failing to do so might mean facing full charges—including the entire new car value if theft isn’t properly reported!

6. Extra Peace of Mind: Additional Insurance Options

Want to lower your personal liability even more? Choose our TOP Cover CDW or TOP Cover TP insurance options. They can reduce your out‑of‑pocket risk if accidents or theft occur. (Just remember: certain things like interior damage from non‑accidents, tires, rims, and underbody issues aren’t covered.)

7. Crossing Borders: Driving Abroad

Planning a road trip beyond Slovenia? You’ll need:

  • Written Consent:
Get written permission from DivoCars before taking our car out of the country.
  • Overnight Stays:
If your car spends the night abroad, park it in a hotel or secure garage.

8. When Things Go Hiccup: Technical Issues & Accidents

  • Technical Problems:
Should your ride experience a hiccup on the road, contact the branch immediately. Repairs must be handled by our authorized service centers (with proper receipts, of course).
  • Accidents:
In case of a traffic accident, notify the police and secure a police report. When you return the car, fill out our accident form. Without the report, you might have to shoulder all repair costs.

9. Keep It Tight: Maintenance & Fuel

  • Maintenance:
It’s a good idea to check on the oil, transmission fluid, coolant, brake fluid, and tire pressure from time to time—especially on longer trips.
  • Fuel Policy:
You receive the car with a full tank and should return it full. If not, you might face extra charges not only for the missing fuel but also for refilling the tank.

10. Lost & Found (But Not Really)

  • Personal Belongings:
DivoCars isn’t responsible for your personal items left in the car or our facilities. Keep your valuables safe!
  • Lost Keys or Documents:
If you lose your keys, documents, or registration plates, notify us immediately—the replacement costs will be charged as per our current rates.

11. Play by the Rules: Traffic Violations & Misuse

  • Traffic Violations:
Any fines, penalties, or legal issues resulting from traffic violations are entirely your responsibility.
  • Usage Restrictions:
Our cars aren’t meant for transporting dangerous goods, towing, racing, illegal activities, or any usage outside the norm (like paid passenger or cargo transport). Always drive responsibly and within the law.

12. Locking in Your Adventure: Reservations

  • Reservation Fees:
For a one‑day rental, a deposit equal to one day’s rental fee is required. For multi‑day rentals, the deposit is agreed uppon rental in written form.
  • Cancellations:
If you need to cancel, do so at least 48 hours before your rental start time to get your deposit back. For rentals of 10 or more days, a deposit of 30% of the total rental fee applies.
  • No-Show Policy:
If you don’t cancel in time, the deposit becomes non‑refundable.
